Being an artist means you can make stuff up. This is a fantasy fish, not Carp. The common carp is drab, olive green and brownish yellow. On a quest to find images that would evoke a sense of peace, calm and joy, I was led to Koi pond fish.

I found this image on a tee shirt for sale and decided to recreate it and consider it for Father’s Day, though The Cracked Egg won that contest.

Recreating this was a lot of fun and took a variety of medium to achieve the desired outcome.

When I added Carpe Diem, the laughs began. A friend suggested it read CARP Diem. Now THAT is hilarious. Creating cards that evoke smiles and laughs seem a good direction these days.
